Mapiko

Mapiko is a dance production choreographed by Artistic Director Casimiro Nhussi.

Mapiko is a search for for the truth hidden beyond the masks that each one of us wears. The theme of this production was inspired by the Makonde traditional dance known as Mapiko and relies on the use of masks.

This production is a rework of the production that was first presented in October 2006 and features twleve artists. Dancers Casimiro Nhussi, Paula Blair, Helene LeMoulec Mancini, Nicole Coppens, Robyn Thomson Kacki and Paige Lewis will be joined by four senior students from the School of Contemprary Dancers Professional Program. This performance will also feature eight musicians; Dave Brown, Tim Church, Roger Clouties, Kelly Leveille, Cam MacLean, Jay Stoller, Binasio Wani, Ewingi Kiki and Casimiro Nhussi.

Advance tickets can be purchased at the Gas Station Arts Center or on-line by ordering below. All tickets purchased on-line can be be picked up at the door, which opens one hour prior to show time. On the day of the show, tickets can also be purchased at the door (cash only).
